This page is in memory of the firefighters who died while serving
as members of the Prince George Fire Department.

 

Jasper Assman

Firefighter Jasper Assman died after being overcome by fumes fighting a fire in a private home at 7th and Winnipeg, at 12:02 a.m. on October 6th, 1956.

Jasper served as a firefighter with the Prince George Fire Department as one of the first five full time uniformed firefighters. At the time of his death he was a Lieutenant in the Department.

Fred Burr

Firefighter Fred Burr was killed when the fire truck he was riding on was struck by a car at 7th and Victory Street, at 12:05 p.m. on May 4th, 1960, and he was thrown off onto the pavement. Ironically he was responding to fight a fire at the same house in which firefighter Assman Died (1787-7th Ave).

Fred served as a firefighter with the Prince George Fire Department as a full time firefighter and was also one of the first full time uniformed members. At the time of his death he was a Lieutenant in the Department.
